Like all organs, the brain needs the oxygen and nutrients provided by blood to function properly. If the supply of blood is restricted or stopped, brain cells begin to die. This can lead to brain injury, disability and possibly death.

There are two main causes of strokes:

Ischaemic – where the blood supply is stopped because of a blood clot, accounting for 85% of all cases

Haemorrhagic – where a weakened blood vessel

Supplying the brain bursts

There is also a related condition known as a transient ischaemic attack (TIA), where the blood supply to the brain is temporarily interrupted. This causes what is known as a mini-stroke, often lasting between a few minutes and several hours. TIAS should be treated urgently, as they are often a warning sign you are at risk of having a full stroke in the near future. Seek medical advice as soon as possible, even if your symptoms resolve.

Certain conditions increase the risk of having a stroke, including:

High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

Atrial Fibrillation

High Cholesterol

Diabetes

The chance of having a stroke approximately doubles for each decade of life after age 55. While stroke is common among the elderly, a lot of people under 65 also have strokes. If you have had a heart attack, you are at higher risk of having a stroke.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a major cause of death worldwide. CHD is sometimes called ischaemic heart disease.

The main symptoms of CHD are:

Angina (chest pain)

Heart attacks

Heart failure

However, not everyone has the same symptoms and some people may not have any before CHD is diagnosed.

Causes of Coronary Heart Disease

Coronary heart disease is the term that describes what happens when your heart’s blood supply is blocked or interrupted by a buildup of fatty substances in the coronary arteries. Over time, the walls of your arteries can become furred up with fatty deposits. This process is known as atherosclerosis and the fatty deposits are called atheroma. Atherosclerosis can be caused by lifestyle factors and other conditions, such as:

Smoking

High cholesterol

High blood pressure (Hypertension)

Diabetes

A health check package designed to those who have a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, overweight, experience shortness of breath or chest pain, smokers and drinkers.

Important Instruction Before Your health Checkup

Client to come fasting 12 hrs.

Only water is permitted, those on regular medication are advised to take them.

The fast pace of life, stress, sedentary lifestyle, irregular eating habits and ever increasing toxic pollutants in air, water and food have become an integral part of present day living which is not the kind of living that our bodies were designed for.

Before you actually feel unwell, there is a stage when the body starts giving signals. Slowly diminishing eyesight, stamina, energy, span of concentration and increasing headaches, acidity, body aches. You must give these signals the attention they deserve and not ignore them. Diagnosed at an early stage, many reversible conditions can be treated and cured or controlled. Heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, stroke and many other illnesses can be prevented.

Regular health exams and tests can help find problems before they start. They also can help find problems early, when your chances for treatment and cure are better. By getting the right health services, screenings, and treatments, you are taking steps that help your chances for living a longer, healthier life.

Purpose of the periodic health examination

As primary prevention

To identify risk factors for common chronic diseases

To detect diseases that has no apparent symptoms (secondary prevention)

As a way for the doctor to counsel people to promote healthy behaviour

To update clinical data since last check-up

To enhance the relationship between you and your doctor
